Desktop memory modules are an important part of your PC
The first thing to do when learning how to install desktop memory is to open up the
computer case. You need to stop the power supply to the computer (very
important!) and then remove the screws which secure the computer case. Once the
screws are removed, carefully slide off the case lid to reveal the inside of
your computer. 2. Find Those Memory Slots
One problem for those who don't know how to install desktop memory is locating the memory
module locations. To do this, my best advice is to refer to your motherboard
manual to see where they lie. It can be a challenge to find them sometimes
because they could be hidden under other PC components. However, typically,
memory slots tend to lie near the CPU so check there first. 3. Slot In The Memory Modules
Once youve found the memory module locations, you need to line up each memory
module youre installing. Once lined up, firmly push down the module so it sits
in the module slot very securely. There will be two clamps on either side of the
memory slot clamp those down to make sure all is fully secure. 4. Close The Computer Case
The next step is to close the computer case. Simply close the computer lid, then
fasten back the screws you loosened. Were almost done. Now that wasnt so
difficult was it? 5. Power Up!
The last step to do when learning how to install desktop memory is to power up the PC.
Make sure that the POST (Power-On
Self Test) detects the correct amount of memory this is usually shown in a
quick screen with running numbers, right after you hit the power on button. Conclusion
And thats it! Now you know exactly how to install desktop memory
