Key Features

The Athlon 64 FX-60 is an AMD dual-core CPU that's much speedier than some Athlon 64 X2 processorsicon. The FX-60 contains 1MB of L2 cache in each core. Since it is not clock-locked, overclockers will be able to overclock the CPU easily.

Performance

Sources reveal that the AMD FX-60 is slightly better than the Intel 955 Extreme Edition in many games. These include Call of Duty 2, Farcry and Doom3. It does look like an AMD CPU is the better choice if you're out shopping for a gaming PC.

Shortcomings

The problematic area of the AMD FX-60 is its price. At a retail price of $1,031, it is very expensive. However, if you're a hardcore gamer, this AMD CPU certainly makes sense.

Conclusion

The AMD FX-60 CPU gives good all around performance and is a great dual-core CPU for PC gaming. Of course, its more expensive than Intel's new 955 Extreme Edition, but its worth it for the gaming crowd. Definitely worth looking at.
